What are some of the best places to eat in Louisiana? For starters, Popeye's Famous Fried Chicken, started in New Orleans Louisiana by the Late Al Copeland. Though fried chicken is a traditional american food, Popeye's Famous Fried Chicken is seasoned with lots of Louisiana spices. The chicken is also marinated in a blend of seasoning as well 24 hours before it's battered and ready for frying, where out of town visitors consider Popeye's Cajun and Creole Food in Louisiana.
Another great place to eat in Louisiana is New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood Company, which is a regional restaurant chain between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. The food is great and the prices are reasonable.
Jaegers in New Orleans, a great place for steaks. If you're extremely wealthy, Galatoires in the French Quarter is a good place to dine. Commander's Palace in New Orleans is also good, too.
South Louisiana has a lot of hidden jewels as far as great places to eat, "hole in the wall" places that serve delicious food at cheap prices.
For example, a lot of convenience stores, example, Danny and Clyde's, serves Po Boy sandwiches on french bread, also, they serve seafood platters, and they also serve breakfast as well. There is no dining area in their stores, but their food is very delicious. You can feed your family pretty cheap.
Years ago, in the town of Lutcher, Louisiana, there was this place called Jake's Place, which was a hangout for both teenagers and adults, and Mister Jake made the best hamburgers in the world. The hamburger patty was out of this world, which they made their own with their own special secret seasoning. As a kid growing up in the seventies, you can get a Big Jake Cheese (equivalent to a Big Mac, only much larger and much tastier), Curly Q french fries, and a Barqs Root Beer served in a frosty mug for seven dollars. Unfortunately, that business no longer exists.
Another Lutcher establishment that no longer exists is the Kwik Snak, famous for their roast beef Po Boys, snowballs(shaved ice with flavoring) and their soft serve ice cream.
In La Place Louisiana, there is Mabiles Restaurant, famous for their roast beef po boys that you need at least a roll of paper towels to eat because they pack on the roast beef and gravy when they make their Po Boys. Very delicious.
In Grand Point, there is the Creole House Cafe(formerly The Stockpile), where they serve both Cajun and Creole food. Very delicious and reasonable prices in a comfortable dining area.
In Prairieville(right outside Baton Rouge), there is Sammy's Grill, a very comfortable and casual setting, and the food is awesome and the prices are also reasonable, too.
In Garyville, there is Fatty's, known for their seafood, delicious, and reasonably priced, too.
Mathernes Supermarket, a local supermarket chain between La Place and Baton Rouge, serves both breakfast and hot lunches in their deli. All food is cooked and prepared right in their own stores.
Rouses, another South Louisiana Grocer Chain, also serves hot meals as well, and is cooked and prepared in their stores as well. Great local flavor.
